In 1999 Repro-Tronics was proud to celebrate its 19th year in business. The company is located in northeastern New Jersey and was originally established to market and provide service for equipment in the photocopy and offset duplicating industries. Company president Dave Skrivanek has had a total of over 30 years experience working in these industries. During this time his various positions have included directing sales departments, directing service departments, managing a manufacturing facility and operating his own business. The ability to fall back upon knowledge gained from past experience has greatly assisted in the development and marketing of products to assist the blind and visually impaired.
In August of 1993, a corporate decision was made to develop products that would assist in the creation and understanding of tactile documents. With this in mind, we undertook the development of the Tactile Image Enhancer. The process took three months. In November of 1993 we were able to exhibit the first prototype machine. By March of 1994 equipment deliveries commenced.
At the same time, research was initiated into the development of a product that would not only create exceptionally good tactile documents of any image desired, but would make the document durable, flexible and transportable. Our R & D efforts were rewarded, and in March of 1995 we introduced Flexi-Paper Tactile Imaging Paper.
Repro-Tronics is dedicated to furthering the ability of Blind and Visually Impaired people to read, understand, and more importantly, provide methods for Blinds to create tactile documents independently. To assist in this we have added more exciting new products.
Thermo-Pens are devices that work in conjunction with Flexi-Paper. By using the Thermo-Pen a person ,blind or sighted can create instant tactile words maps braille or whatever is required.
Tactile Graphic Designer (TGD) series of software. TGD is available in four formats depending on need. Tactile Graphics Designer, developed by Dr. Don Parkes and Richard Dear is an ingenious combination of software modules that provide methods for blind, Visually Impaired, or sighted individuals to create Graphics for Bind. These Graphics can even have speech or sounds associated with them. The output from TGD can be either to print and raised and raised or sent to a Braille Embosser.
Hungry Fingers is the
brilliant creation of Professor Boguslawa Marek of Poland. Hungry
Fingers consist of two devices that assist in teaching how to create tactile
objects and just as important how to relate a two dimensional drawing into
three dimensional objects Working in conjunction with the Thermo-Pen
and Flexi-Paper a child learns ow to transcribe the two dimensional
the three dimensional..
TRANSFOGRAPH and Clever Triangles are the two products
that Professor Marek had created to accomplish this.
COMPIC PUBLISHING SOFTWARE has been designed as a resource for teachers, aids, therapists, parents and care givers. The Publishing software is used to create a variety of aids and activities.
In our effort to assist in the education and training
of the vision impaired Repro-Tronics will continue to search and develop
additional products in the future.
